How to Apply for a PAN Card for Free

Income Tax Dept has started the e-platform to issue the instant PAN Card. The facility on the Income Tax Dept website is for persons who are adults and taxpayers. The e-filling portal will issue the instant PAN card to the persons who do not have any PAN card and apply elsewhere for the PAN Card. The person must have an active mobile number and the mobile number must be inked with the Aadhar Card. The Income Tax Dept web platform will issue the soft copy of the PAN Card that will serve your purpose. But if a person wants to get the offline copy of the PAN card, he has to apply on the NSDL or UTIITSL portal.

How do you apply for an Instant PAN Card?

Follow the below steps to apply for the Instant PAN Card.

  1. The person has to open the income tax e-filing portal Weblink:
  2. Then click on the Instant e-PAN.
  3. Go to the tab e-PAN and then to the New e-PAN.
  4. In the GET New e-PAN, you have to enter the Aadhar Card Number.
  5. Click on the Checkbox and give your consent to the terms and conditions.
  6. Click on Continue and an OTP will come to your mobile number.
  7. Enter the OTP and validate your Aadhar number.
  8. In the end, you will receive the Acknowlgedment Number.
  9. Keep this number for future purposes, this way, you have applied for the e-PAN card.

PAN Application through the NSDL Portal

NSDL is a weblink where the govt accepts applications for the new PAN card. We have given the details of the steps below.

  1. The first step is to open the NSDL website
  2. Choose the correct option from these, a. New PAN for Indian citizens, b. Foreign citizens, c. For update in existing PAN Card.
  3. Choose the category of the person, individual, or association.
  4. Now, fill out the fields of the PAN card online form such as your full name, email ID, etc.
  5. Deposit these details and move to the next step in the PAN Card form.
  6. The new page will open to verify the e-KYC of the person for a PAN card.
  7. Here you can choose the opinion that you need a physical Aadhar Card or not.
  8. Now, prepare the documents you want to submit with the PAN Card that is listed in the application form.
  9. Also, give the declaration for the PAN Card form as per instructions.
  10. Use the Aadgar Card option for the e-KYC process.
  11. The next step is to pay the fees to apply for the PAN Card.
  12. You have to use the Authenticate option.
  13. Now e-sign will be required at the end of the PAN Card online form.
  14. Enter the OTP and save the acknowledgment slip.

Steps to Apply for PAN through UTIITSL Portal

A person can also apply for a PAN Card through the UTIITSL website, check below all the steps.

  1. Visit the UTIITSL website, choose the PAN Card option then the PAN Card for Indian Citizen.
  2. Choose Form 49 A for the new PAN Card application.
  3. A person can choose the method to submit the documents for the PAN Card application either physical or digital, In the digital mode, one can submit the docs in the soft copy form, and in the physical mode, the person will have to visit the nearest UTIITSL Office to deposit the hard copies of the documents for PAN Card.
  4. A person has to fill out the PAN Card form online as per the rules.
  5. Pay the application charges for the PAN Card form.
  6. Upakod the documents/photo if you do not want to submit the physical documents for your PAN Card.
  7. You will be asked to attach a copy of the address proof along with the PAN Card online form.

Steps to Apply for PAN Offline

A person can also apply for a PAN Card using the old method by visiting the office. Follow the below steps.

  1. The person can download Form 49A for a PAN Card.
  2. Then fill out the PAN Card offline form.
  3. Attach all the documents with the PAN Card form.
  4. Submit the application fee offline for the PAN Card.
  5. Deposit all of them at the nearest office for a PAN Card or you can submit them to the below address: Income Tax PAN Services Unit, NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd, 5th floor, Mantri Sterling, Plot No. 341, Survey No. 997/8, Model Colony, Near Deep Bungalow Chowk, Pune, Pin Code 411016.
